Mitsubishi Supports Japanese AI Voice Platform CoeFont in Developing Project to Improve The Wellbeing of ALS Patients
Tokyo Tech Startup CoeFont was selected as part of Mitsubishi’s “Tanamin Digital Health Challenge” to improve wellbeing of ALS patients and their families.
CoeFont Co., Ltd., a registered startup company at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, developer and provider of services utilizing AI, announced that it has been selected by the TANAMIN Digital Health Challenge, a start-up support program sponsored by the Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG). The project will be announced at an event to be held on March 29th, 2023 (Weds). March 13th, 2023, 12:00 JST
CoeFont stood out among 94 companies from 21 countries vying for a place on Mitsubishi Chemical Group’s (MCG) TANAMIN Digital Health Challenge ALS program. The challenge, which “collaborates with start-ups in order to adopt novel technologies into healthcare,” offers talented start-ups the opportunity to collaborate with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation on a proof-of-concept project. This year’s panel were impressed by CoeFont’s free social initiative to provide ALS patients with high-accuracy AI voices and the high quality and uniqueness of their services.

CoeFont has been offering free AI voice creation and use to individuals at risk of losing their voice since 2021. As of February 2023, over 150 people have benefited from the free service. Users and their families have conveyed their appreciation for the service, which they say has given them hope for the future, and also expressed the wish for more people to learn about the initiative. The Tech Startup’s selection by MCG should make that wish a reality.
