CoeFont continues its mission to improve the quality of life of people with ALS and other incurable diseases by providing free services to Creact for their communication device for people with disabilities, TC Scan.
CoeFont will enable people using a TC Scan to communicate with their own voice or with the voices of popular voice actors and celebrities.
CoeFont Co., Ltd., developer and provider of services utilizing AI, announced that it will provide free services to Creact Corporation, for their TC Scan, a communication device for people with disabilities. August 10th, 2023, 12:00 JST
Patients who use TC Scan, a communication device for people with disabilities, can create their own AI voice for free and speak with it. In addition, the voice actors Tomoyuki Morikawa and Ouko Goto, both represented by Axel One agency who endorse this initiative, will provide free AI voices for daily use. We aim to create an environment where patients can freely express themselves, leading to a more fulfilling communication and entertainment experience despite restrictions.
About the Initiative
This initiative began when Creact, a provider of communication devices — particularly eye-tracking devices — made an offer that aligned with our company’s goal of supporting and promoting the well-being of people who may lose their voices.
Patients who use Creact’s TC Scan will be able to use the following functions on CoeFont’s AI Voice Platform free of charge:
- AI Voice creation and use of AI voice of the patient himself/herself
- Use of AI Voice Fonts of CoeFont’s original characters
- AI Voice Fonts of voice actors/celebrities

Comments by Creact’s President and CEO, Nahoko Sagarifuji
Creact Corporation provides Tobii eye tracking input devices and communication tools for people with quadriplegia and speech difficulties. These tools enable easy access to conversations, internet searches, and social networking through switches and scans. A synthetic voice function reads out selected words, but users can now use their own voice to read out words and converse in any voice they choose, thanks to CoeFont’s cooperation.
CoeFont’s Social Initiatives
CoeFont have been offering free AI voice creation and use to individuals at risk of losing their voice since 2021. As of June 2023, over 400 people have benefited from the free service. Users and their families have conveyed their appreciation for the service, which they say has given them hope for the future.
We will continue to use our advanced AI voice technology to partner with wellbeing and rehabilitation tech firms, pharmaceutical companies, medical institutions, and support groups to enhance the quality of life of those who may lose their voices and their loved ones.
Overview of the equipment for TC scanning by Creact

The device enables people with ALS and other neurological disorders to talk, email, use social networking and control their environment with a switch and a scan. The TC Scan’s key feature is that switching to gaze input can be done at the touch of a button, making it easy to use switches and gaze together, thus expanding the accessibility possibilities for the user.
