Tokyo Tech Startup, CoeFont Co., Ltd., is offering use of their AI voice platform CoeFont CLOUD free of charge to those who will undergo vocal cord removal.
CoeFont Co., Ltd., a registered startup company at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, developer and provider of services utilizing AI, announced that it would start offering the AI speech synthesis platform “CoeFont CLOUD” free of charge for people who will undergo vocal cord removal. It is currently estimated that around twenty to thirty thousand people in Japan who developed throat cancer had to make the painful but unavoidable decision to have their vocal cords removed. Those who undergo a laryngectomy suffer further from the emotional loss of losing not only the ability to speak but the sound of their own voice. In response to this situation, CoeFont is offering the use of “CoeFont CLOUD” free of charge for people who will have their vocal cords removed.

By recording their voice on the platform, users can continue communicating using their own distinctive sound even after losing their natural speaking ability.
